Description
The EMS/Quorum Q150T ES sputter coater deposits thin coatings of conductive material to aid in imaging in electron microscopes. The default setup yields a thin, theoretically uniform layer of 4nm of iridium. Specimens must be vacuum compatible and are typically mounted for imaging on the appropriate stub before coating. Iridium achieves a high-quality coating with minimal visible grain artifacts at high magnification. However, coating may distort or hide nanoscale features.
The coater may be equipped with a carbon coating attachment if iridium is not desired.
